Welcome to CUPE 7000

CUPE 7000 represents over 1,200 workers at the British Columbia Rapid Transit Company Ltd. (BCRTC) and the Southern Railway of British Columbia (SRY). We are tasked with keeping Metro Vancouver’s transit and heavy rail moving safely and efficiently. Together, we transport over 100 million people annually (averaging 320,000 per weekday) on SkyTrain, while Southern Railway moves over 70,000 carloads of freight per year.

British Columbia Rapid Transit Company (BCRTC)
BCRTC operates and maintains two of the three SkyTrain lines in Metro Vancouver: the Expo Line and the Millennium Line. Our infrastructure includes a world-class Operations and Maintenance Centre, 39 passenger stations, and 60 km of track. When including the Canada Line, this network forms one of the largest fully automated passenger train systems in the world, spanning 80 km. CUPE 7000 members at BCRTC work across Operations, Maintenance, and Administration.

Southern Railway of British Columbia (SRY)
Founded in 1897 and based in New Westminster, SRY is a major transporter of freight for the province. SRY maintains over 123 miles of track and interchanges with four North American Class 1 railroads: CP, BNSF, CN, and UP. Our members at Southern Rail are the backbone of the company’s Operations and Trades and Freight.
